Caring For Your Senior Pet-izen (A seperate 2 hour couse)

Part of being a caring, conscientious, and responsible and loving pet owner includes helping the pet into its “golden years.” Medically speaking, “old age” for pets is considered a condition and not an illness or disease.  There are many preventative measures that you can do now to increase the quality and quantity of your pet’s life as they become “senior pet-izens.”  This course will teach you to create a lifestyle for your pet that minimizes the risk of illness, injury and disease and, at the same time, maximizes the quality of their life and your relationship with them.

Dental Care For Your Pets (1 hour course)

Your pet not having their teeth brushed for the first 3 years of their life is equivalent to you not seeing a dentist until you were about 20 years old.  Imagine what your mouth would look like, what it would smell like if you didn’t have any dental care for the first 20 years of your life!  This course will teach you how to properly brush your pets' teeth, how to recognize the signs of periodontal disease, the four stages of periodontal disease, and what you should do if you suspect your pet has periodontal disease.

Rosco Bandana / von Grey / Petrina Foley
Rosco Bandana is a Gulfport, Mississippi-based band blending a blues/Americana style with modern folk and a hint of Gypsy fanfare. The septet is the product of teenage rebellion and its consequences: lost love, false starts, and, above all, lasting friendship. The band is comprised of members who took a chance on a long shot that paid off against all odds. Rosco Bandana began—spiritually, if not specifically—when principal songwriter Jason Sanford began acting in open defiance of his strict Christian upbringing. This newly formed band has been shaking up the local music scene ever since with its energetic live performances. With their soulful four-part harmonies, poetic lyrics and indelible melodies, it’s easy to see why the Atlanta Journal Constitution would hail von Grey as “nothing short of stunning.” The four sisters that comprise von Grey have been playing music nearly their entire lives. Classically trained from an early age, the Atlanta-based quartet – Kathryn, Annika, Fiona, and Petra von Grey – have built on that foundation by performing upwards of 200 shows in the past two years. With recurring residency tours at intimate venues throughout the U.S., they have performed in a supporting role for such artists as Sarah McLachlan and Company of Thieves. Guitar World called von Grey “an Americana masterpiece” that is “just pure talent that has been honed and worked on and molded into something special.” Boston singer-songwriter Petrina Foley offers a unique blend of soul-infused, fiery rock ‘n’ roll arrangements and well thought-out lyrics that evoke vivid imagery. Since the release of her album Proper Goodbye in October of 2008, Foley has been focusing her efforts on her songwriting and defining her direction and vision for her future as a solo artist. Foley has recently released her new single, “For You,” along with its sister track, “Just Can’t Take It.”

OVERKILL

Although everybody seems to have a different account of who came first in the world of New York/New Jersey area thrash metal, it seems certain that New Jersey's Overkill have stayed around the longest, and have never let their fans down by remaining musically consistent and true to their roots for over 20 years and an unprecedented 14 full length albums. By 1987's Taking Over, the band had worked their way up to a deal with Atlantic Records. This relationship would last another 7 years based on the strength and consistency of Overkill's music. 1988's Under The Influence and 1989's The Years Of Decay represent Overkill in their prime. Sid Falck would replace Rat Skates on drums to bring his own brutal percussive assault to Verni's already powerful rhythm section. The band had already established a rabid fan base with songs like "Rotten To The Core" and "Hammerhead" (as well as their infamous cover of D.O.A.'s "Fuck You"), and new songs like "Evil Never Dies" and "Hello From The Gutter" would become Overkill mainstays as well. A video for "Hello From The Gutter" was garnering much fan response when it received play on MTV's "Headbangers Ball". 1994's W.F.O. would be Overkill's final album with Atlantic, as they would release their first official full-length live assault, Wrecking Your Neck on CMC in 1995. 1996-1999 would see Overkill release 3 more full length albums (Killing Kind, From The Underground and Below, and Necroshine). In 2000, Overkill released Bloodletting on Metal-Is, adding guitarist Dave Linsk to the fray. The current Overkill lineup would be completed with the release of the live album Wrecking Everything and the addition of second guitarist Derek Tailer in 2002. Finally, Overkill would release one of their most well-received albums to date Killbox 13 on Spitfire Records in 2003. As fans rabidly await the imminent release of their latest contribution on Spitfire, ReliXIV, it seems obvious that Overkill are, and always have been, a band that knows who their fans are, knows what true metal fans expect, and will settle for nothing but the best from themselves. An entirely self-produced album, ReliXIV is a continuation of the Overkill legacy. Immortalis, the band..s 15th studio album was release in October 2007 via Bodog Music. Now with Nuclear Blast Records, it seems the band has finally found themselves a home: "Good to be with a label that understands what Overkill are about and what Metal is about in 2010, exciting!" Bobby Blitz The upcoming album features Overkill's latest lineup, which, along with founders Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth and D.D. Verni, includes guitarists Derek "The Skull" Tailer and Dave Linsk, as well as the newest member to join the band, drummer Ron Lipnicki. There are few names as well respected as Overkill, and with the resurgence of metal in the music world, this band is poised to return to the top. Overkill are ready to show mature metal heads they still have it and are geared up to teach the new schoolers exactly how it's done. "Ironbound" is one hell of a thrashing piece which leads the band back to their oldschool roots!

Kreator

Combine extreme music with an edgy, biting implacability, complement it with politically motivated lyrics that have a distinct tendency to point the finger at grievances and aren't afraid of exposing abhorrent facts, and you just might get a sense of the pandemonium of sounds on Hordes of Chaos, the latest recording by Germany's cult thrash metal act, Kreator, scheduled for release on Steamhammer/SPV on 19 January 2009 (Germany: 16 January, US: late January). Even in 2009, the band prove themselves to be unusually innovative and a step ahead of the game, always ready to pursue new ideas and treat themselves and their fans to maximum authenticity. Frontman Mille Petrozza, along with drummer Jürgen 'Ventor' Reil, bassist Christian Giesler and guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö, recorded ten hard-as-nails tracks in the summer of 2008, songs with a persistent and unmistakable message - Kreator are experts when it comes to pure, unadulterated thrash metal. In terms of content and composition, Hordes of Chaos takes up where its predecessor, Enemy of God (2005), left off. Petrozza, who again offers his points of view for public discussion, explains, "The global political situation has come apart at the seams. The Eastern and Western Blocs no longer exist, and today it's a case of dog eat dog." Petrozza considers the album's raw, in-your-face approach "a warning to the coming generation. Everybody has to go their own path in life and should try not to buy into the propaganda lies that governments feed us. Hordes of Chaos was recorded at Berlin's Tritonus studios under the direction of producer Moses Schneider. Schneider is renowned for his fresh and exceptionally dynamic working methods with bands and artists such as Tocotronic and Beatsteaks. "We consciously decided on Moses as our producer for the live recording of the basic tracks at the studio," says Petrozza. "This was the first time since Pleasure to Kill that we worked in this fashion. The new album is a 100% realistic reflection of Kreator's live qualities. Instead of exploring every little detail to sterile perfection with the help of computer technology, this time around we wanted to deliver as dynamic of a production as possible. There can be no doubt that we've achieved our target in Hordes of Chaos." The album was mixed in London by Colin Richardson (of Slipknot, Bullet for my Valentine, Cradle of Filth fame). The result is exactly what one would expect from Kreator in terms of its energy and stylistic direction. Hordes of Chaos brilliantly conveys the same intense energy that Kreator is known for in their live stage shows. "We play our music just the way it was played in the seventies," says Petrozza, whom rigorously despises any artificial cosmetics added through sound distorting studio tricks. "The problem is that nowadays, even the worst groups can sound great, thanks to computer mastering. We don't want that. We want to sound natural and record the album just as it was done in the past. The new studio album will be available in three different versions. The jewel case edition includes the ten regular album songs, and the deluxe version features an additional bonus DVD, which shows an atmospheric making of the album in super-8 quality, courtesy of the Berlin film maker, Stephanie Beauvoir.

The Boxer Rebellion

The Boxer Rebellion

Well, one could point to the quality of the songs or the almost wanton uniqueness of their sound, but that would be remiss – they've always had the talent. Perhaps it could be faith in their own abilities – a bloody-mindedness that refused to go away? Not so – every band that has ever existed (or not) tends to think they're the reincarnation of The Beatles. The simple fact is, the reason The Boxer Rebellion have endured thus far resides in a single word, a concept that was the insignia of their second album: Union. In an industry replete with egoism, showmanship and self-aggrandisement, The Boxer Rebellion have always remained refreshingly understated, whilst producing a musical output that is anything but. Comprising a line-up that neither eschews nor basks in the spotlight, what you get with this band more than any other is a sense of shared purpose – a unity impervious to external influence or critical sloganeering, which divides itself into equally vital parts of a greater whole. "We've always been a band that's had a sense of seclusion, which has helped us extract the essence of what we are as a unit," guitarist Todd Howe reveals of their working process, a point succinctly and wryly punctuated by frontman Nathan Nicholson: "I think if we were solo artists, we'd have all quit by now." It's this sense of alliance that has allowed The Boxer Rebellion to navigate a path beset with industry indifference and financial hardship to forge a career that has set industry landmarks from the base materials of undeniable talent and a cast-iron will. One such landmark came in the band's recent live appearance on the silver screen in Going The Distance, a Hollywood feature film starring Drew Barrymore. In the movie, the band play themselves and effectively superimpose their name into the popcorn-chomping eyes of movie-going audiences throughout the world – performing two tracks from the Union LP ('Evacuate' and 'Spitting Fire') while also providing an original song, 'If You Run', for the film's finale. All this on the back of a chance encounter with film industry spotters at a showcase in LA, who were so impressed with the band's sold-out performance at The Troubadour, they promptly nudged the film's director, Nanette Burstein, to make them the movie's musical focal point. Since then, the band have found themselves attending red-carpet premieres in Los Angeles and London (in a location literally around the corner from where two of the band used to work in a shoe shop), before launching into a packed-out 20-date US tour in September 2010. Having self-released and virtually self-financed the follow-up to debut Exits, the band's Union LP saw them make history by becoming the first unsigned band to enter the US Billboard 100 Albums Chart (no. 82) on digital sales alone. By the end of 2009, iTunes US declared Union their Alternative Album of the Year. A fitting climax to a year of toil and tussle, after this The Boxer Rebellion were primed and ready to embark on their third studio record. Enter producer Ethan Johns (Kings of Leon, Ryan Adams, Ray LaMontagne), whose unorthodox approach to recording became the perfect foil to the Boxer Rebellion's almost tunnel-vision creative perseverance. "There's no conventional approach or formula to how I work," the producer states. "But working on this album, I felt there had to be some natural way of recording, because the tracks were coming fast. So recording it live seemed like the logical thing to do – there was a synchronicity to writing and recording, and the way it all came together so naturally I think adds to the whole feel of it." The result of this dynamic – and the first album The Boxer Rebellion have handed over to a single producer – is the forthcoming breathtaker that is The Cold Still, an album that might never have seen the light of day from a band of lesser conviction. They have taken the trials of their formative years and built themselves a future that glows from the resurgent embers of the determination that refused to be extinguished all those years ago, and burns ever brighter still. For The Boxer Rebellion, what's past is their prologue. Here's where their story truly begins…
